During her daily commute to work, Zoe happens to be reading her local paper and sees a picture of herself in the personal ads section. Confused and a little freaked out by it, she brings it home to show her family, and they convince her it’s not her, and just someone who looks like her. Zoe tries to forget about the picture, until she sees a picture of another woman in the paper the next day and then a few days later that same woman is murdered. On edge, Zoe is convinced she’s being followed. I See You is a fast paced psychological thriller that alternates point of views between a policewoman named Kelly who has taken on the case and Zoe, as she asks herself why her picture was in the paper, and is she in danger?

I See You is one the best book I’ve read so far in 2017! I loved it so much! I’m a huge fan for books where the main character is being stalked, and this was no exception. There were some small parts where we see the stalker’s thoughts, and it’s SO creepy, but so perfectly done. Part of what I loved most about this book is how much truth there was to how easy it would be to stalk certain people. The book talks about how Zoe (as well as other characters) take the same route to work each day, sit in the same train car, etc. All I could think about was how accurate this was for me. I commute to work and definitely take the same train, get in the same train car, get off at the same place, get on the same bus…etc. It creeped me out to think about how easily someone could track me if they wanted to.

I loved Zoe as our protagonist, and really felt for her as she struggled to decide how much she should and shouldn’t tell her children and long term boyfriend about what’s been going on. Partly, she doesn’t want them to think she’s overreacting, and partly she doesn’t want to worry them.

I also really liked Kelly and her partner Nick. While the story primarily focused on Zoe and the ongoing case, we learned about Kelly’s personal life and history, and I would love to see her and Nick show up in future books. I could also see there being a romantic involvement between Kelly and Nick! I loved them together.

As the case unfolds, I was constantly questioning who was behind it all, and why? I won’t give anything away, but the end of the book was phenomenal! I was completely caught off guard, and then the last few pages had me literally yelling out loud because I was so surprised (in the best possible way!) and I was DYING to talk to someone about the book! I immediately messaged a friend to freak out about it all, as well as texted my best friend telling her she needed to read the book ASAP!

I have seen other reviewers mention that they felt like the book got a little repetitive in the middle, but personally I didn’t have the same experience. I honestly loved every page of the book, and read it in two sittings because I was so gripped. This one felt like it was written just for me, and I can’t rave about it enough!

I highly recommend this one for all fans of the thriller genre! This was the first book I’ve read by Clare Mackintosh, and I’ve had I Let You Go by her on my to read list for a while, so I definitely need to bump that one up and read it sooner than originally planned! A huge thank you to Netgalley, Clare Mackintosh, and Berkley Publishing Group for a copy of the book. It was my pleasure to provide an honest review.

I See You The Number One Sunday Times Bestseller edition by Clare Mackintosh Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

Wonderful premise but less suspenseful than I let you go. Obvious that the author's talent is continuing to develop since her next.book is so much better. I read , I you go, first and was deeply impressed. It felt as if the behaviors of the villain in that book were based on actual police experiences of the author. This book lacked that touch of realism. Will read her next with the hope that she has found her niche and with my fingers crossed.
The first half of this book was slow paced, but the second half picked up and the suspense increased up to the ending.

Zoe Walker takes the same route to and from work every day. She waits for the train in the same spot and sits in the same seat. Very predictable. One day she is reading the paper and see her picture on and advertisement for a website called findtheone.com. When she shares this with her boyfriend and kids and even her best friend who lives next door. they all blow it off. "Are you sure that is you, hard to tell from the picture" "Maybe you have a doppelganger"
The police do not take a real interest in it either. But when she notices other woman's pictures and then sees on the news that one of them was murdered, she knows something is wrong. Finally a cop named Kelly listens to her, she is working a case of a woman who had her keys stolen and it turns out that woman's picture was also in the paper one day. Kelly is able to get herself transferred to the dept that is working the case of the dead woman.

Like I said the first half of the book was slow paced. The chapters alternated between Zoe & Kelly. None of the characters jumped off the page to me. But I did like the story. And the second half of the book the pace and suspense picked up. And it makes ya think, are you a creature of habit, who knows your daily routine and are they watching you. Creepy...

The author threw so many curves around to make you suspect everyone. And I did at the beginning, then as the book went on I had it narrowed down to 2 people. Was positive the person behind the website was one of them. Boy was I wrong. When it was finally revealed at the end who it was I was like "Whoa, never thought of that one." But then there was one finally twist at the end I did figure out.
What can I say? I truly enjoyed this book. While I don't believe the website mentioned throughout the story is entirely plausible, the idea of something like it actually happening (and it could), is truly creepy and terrifying.

And the ending! While I had my suspicions on and off throughout the book, the ending led me to believe I was wrong. Then WHAM! The epilogue was amazing. I love books capable of shocking me.

Clare Mackintosh is quickly becoming a favorite author. I loved her debut novel, I Let You Go, and I loved this story as well.

Highly recommended!
Kept me interested. Well-enough written. But reminded me of MH Clark...lots of red herrings thrown out —so many that almost everyone becomes a potential suspect. Even still, I guessed the villain which is something I never ever do, so couldn't have been that well-plotted. Also, the end kind of falls apart, and characters do things that aren't believable. Wanted to like it more than I did.
