I ordered and read this book as a part of a book club. One of our members lives in Nova Scotia and our OH club was going to have a meeting at her home. The setting is the fishing industry in Labrador. This book is not a Dickens read but simple, much like the people of the area. A very touching story with sad commentary on the discriminatory use and treatment of females. The girl and the Captain were both ignorant (as in lacking in knowledge) in responding to the moral philosophy of the place and time.
